Jupiter Jupiter Opposition 2022

This year happens to coincide with Jupiter's perihelion, or the point in its orbit when it's closest to the Sun.

Jupiter is just 367 million miles away from Earth — the closest it's been to us since 1963 (59 yrs ago)

Heads up, that’s no moon, it’s Jupiter! Today the solar system’s largest planet Jupiter, will make its closest approach to Earth in 59 years.

The gas giant will be unusually bright and large in the sky which should offer a great opportunity for viewing.

Today, #Jupiter is having its closest encounter with Earth since 1963.
